More than just a place to grab a bite, this unique venue blends the charm of a quilt-making workshop with a cozy café atmosphere, inviting all to indulge in their culinary delights while admiring creative craftsmanship.

As you step into The Maker Space, you are greeted by a warm and inviting ambience. The scent of freshly brewed coffee wafts through the air, mingling with the aroma of delicious homemade meals prepared with love. The café is particularly known for its diverse breakfast options, with the full English breakfast being a highlight at just £10. Diners have noted that while the portions may initially appear modest, the generous servings of toast and delightful marmalade elevate the experience, offering a comforting start to your day.

Beyond breakfast, patrons rave about the delightful sweet potato soup and light, tasty cheese scones, making it the perfect midday retreat. Complement your meal with an excellent cup of coffee or a personalized green smoothie, as recommended by hiking enthusiasts who found this gem along the Ridgeway Trail. The Maker Space is not just a place to eat; it’s a haven for those seeking a peaceful stop to refresh during outdoor adventures.

Customer experiences emphasize the café's friendly service. A review by Jack Andrew Cribb highlights how the attentive staff went out of their way to ensure he was taken care of during his visit. This sentiment is consistent with numerous other reviews, which praise the café not only for its delicious menu but also for the welcoming vibes that make anyone feel at home.

However, like any place, there are minor areas that could enhance the experience. Some guests have pointed out the need for more attentive engagement from staff—simple greetings can make a significant difference. Nevertheless, the essence of The Maker Space lies in its heartwarming food, delightful ambiance, and the art of community it fosters.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, The Maker Space at The Crown offers a unique blend of culinary delight and creative spirit. It’s not just about sipping coffee; it’s about enjoying the moment, sharing stories, and finding inspiration. So next time you’re in the area, make sure to stop by for a truly memorable experience.

Found this little cafe and not disappointed - food was great! Would love to do a workshop course one day. One little grumble: Little disappointed to see a number of girls behind the counter doing nothing much - generally talking or on their phones. Such a small niggle, I know, but even a ‘good morning’ or ‘have a good day’ would be appreciated and maybe phones away?

Interesting and unusual place to visit: it’s part quilt maker workshop and part cafe. Run by Kate and John, all welcome, including non-lary bikers! They provide various breakfast options. I opted for the full English at £10. The portions were on the slim size for the price but you get get lots of toast plus they did have marmalade. Pot of tea slightly weaker than expected but on the whole was good. Excellent choice of cakes and scones plus sausage rolls. Got talking to John who has a Harley. The local Harley group turned up whilst I was there as we exchanged pleasantries. Worth a bimble but don’t expect large breakfast portions.

Organised via Benson Striders running club. A great place to start and finish some exercise be it running, walking or cycling. We did a local 5K route to see the bluebells and it was wonderful. A group of 22 runners. All had coffee and cakes or other food. Service outstanding and our orders came so quickly. Coffee excellent and food really good. No complaints here. Spoke to the owner beforehand and she Was so accommodating. Great garden to sit in and soaked up the sunshine. Toilets good. Water available with plenty of glasses. Oh and by the way this was all done whilst a craft fair was going on. Absolutely recommend this as a place to stop and will definitely do so. Thanks to all the staff who looked after us today ????????????????????????

Lovely food at this café. We had sweet potato soup which was delicious and really light and tasty cheese scones. Also an excellent cup of coffee. Good selection of cakes too. Tables and chairs a little uncomfortable and wobbly but overall a very pleasant lunch.

I stopped off here for lunch while hiking the Ridgeway. Had a tuna melt, a cheese scone, and a green smoothie. Delicious. A great place to stop for food and drink. You'll just come across it without warning if you're walking the Ridgeway, but it was a brilliant find. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, with one making sure my water bottle was refilled before I continued - without me even asking. Very kind people here.

Perfect place to stop for a coffee and a treat at the end of a long hike. Very friendly people, attentive with happy vibes. My friend said their soup was amazing. I only had chips with cheese which I liked. Their decaf latte was delicious and didn’t taste weak like some other places which I was very pleased with. I’m definitely going there again.
